We keep this short and human. In plain terms: we ask for your name and email so we can send you the free guide and the occasional update, we don't sell your details to anyone, and you can leave any time. The detail below is the formal version.

1. Who we are

This website is run by The Marriage Operating Manual (“we”, “us”, “our”), a trading name based in the United Kingdom. For data-protection purposes, we are the “data controller” for the personal data described here.

2. What we collect

  • Information you give us: your first name and email address, when you sign up for the free guide through the form on this site.
  • Information collected automatically: basic technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, which our hosting and service providers may log for security and to make the site work.

3. Why we use it, and our legal basis

  • To send you the free guide and occasional updates about the workbook we're building — on the basis of your consent, which you give when you submit the form. You can withdraw it any time (see “Your rights”).
  • To operate and secure the website — on the basis of our legitimate interests in running a safe, functioning site.

4. Who we share it with

We don't sell your data. We use a small number of trusted service providers (“processors”) who handle it only on our instructions:

Our fonts are served directly from this website, so no font provider receives your data.

5. International transfers

Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they rely on appropriate safeguards (such as UK/EU adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect your data to UK standards.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your name and email for as long as you're subscribed. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your data, we'll remove it from our active list promptly. Some records may be retained where we're legally required to.

7. Your rights

Under UK data-protection law you have the right to: access the data we hold about you; correct it; have it deleted; restrict or object to how we use it; receive a copy in a portable format; and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email hello@themarriageoperatingmanual.com, or use the unsubscribe link in any email.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

8. Cookies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. This site keeps its use of them to a minimum:

  • Functional — our email-signup form (provided by MailerLite) may set cookies needed to make the form work and prevent spam submissions.
  • Preferences — we store a small flag on your device to remember that you've seen our cookie notice, so it doesn't reappear on every visit.
  • Analytics — we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It is cookieless: it sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and does not track you across other websites or build a profile of you. It cannot be used to identify you. Because no information is stored on or read from your device, this does not require your consent under the UK privacy and electronic communications rules.
  • Advertising — we use none. We do not run Google Analytics, the Meta pixel, or any ad-tracking. If we add any in future, we'll update this policy and ask for your consent first.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; blocking functional cookies may stop the signup form working.

9. Children

This site and our product are intended for adults. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the “last updated” date at the top.
